This piece was created as a meditation on the quiet strength found in letting go. The water seems to glow from within, its translucent face revealing the beauty found in motion rather than resistance. Sunlight catches the spray as it is flung into the air, scattering countless sparkling droplets that drift like fleeting jewels before returning to the sea.
Both powerful and graceful, the wave embodies the paradox of surrender. Its breaking is not a defeat, but a quiet act of trust in the rhythm of something greater. It rises in strength, then releases itself without resistance, yielding to the current that has carried it from the beginning. In that graceful surrender, the wave reveals that true strength is not found in holding on, but in letting go. It reminds us that the greatest beauty often emerges when we release our need for control and trust God's greater purpose, allowing Him to carry us exactly where we were always meant to go.
In this painting I wanted to capture the liquid gold of the sunset as it dissolves into the rhythm of the sea. The intricate texture of the waves catches and scatters the fading glow, creating a tapestry of luminous movement that shifts with every ripple. The sunset stretches into fine ribbons of light that weave through the waves, creating the illusion of molten gold stitched into the ocean itself. Rich with texture and movement, this painting captures a moment that exists for only an instant—when the sea seems to gather the last light of day and hold it gently before night falls.
A cool autumn hush settles over Jordan Pond with the rounded silhouettes of the Bubble Mountains rising beyond. The slopes are alive with the rich tapestry of fall—fiery reds, glowing oranges, and deep golds woven together among pockets of evergreen, creating a vivid contrast against the sky. A breeze ripples the water, softening the reflection into an impressionist blur, as if the landscape itself were breathing. The crisp air carries the faint scent of pine, leaves, and earth. These are the kinds of moments that settle deep within the soul, the ones that feel both fleeting and eternal, and linger long after, asking only to be held onto forever.
This painting invites you into one of the day's most sacred moments. The same light that touches the heavens reaches down to the ocean, weaving them together in a quiet conversation of color and reflection. Each wave carries that golden glow to the shore before surrendering it back to the sea, a quiet reminder that we are connected to something far greater than ourselves, with traces of heaven revealed in the everyday moments of earth.
Far from the safety of shore, immense swells rise like mountains, their towering faces separated by deep gulfs which reveal the raw majesty of the open sea. This is where the familiar gives way to something vast and untamed. Above, a moody sky stretches across the horizon as rich purple clouds gather, their edges traced with warm light—a quiet reminder that even in the darkest skies, light is never absent.
The painting speaks to the seasons of life when the waters around us seem impossibly high and the way forward disappears beyond the next wave. Yet amid the immensity of the sea, there is an invitation to trust rather than fear. The same hand that shaped the oceans also holds us steady within them, calling us to look beyond the storm and walk forward in faith. When Oceans Rise is a reminder that courage is not found in calm seas, but in trusting the One who remains constant above every wave.
I was drawn to the way the light transformed the water — each ripple catching a sparkle of gold in the glow of the setting sun. Against all that movement and brilliance, the buoy laid quietly, a peaceful presence in the shifting sea. I hope it reminds you, as it did me, that even the smallest details can shine with brilliance when the light is just right.
Buoys are more than just bright spots on the water — they mark the connection between what lies unseen in the deep and the hands that pull the traps to the surface. I was drawn to the contrast of the buoy’s orange glow against the green sea, a reminder of both the beauty and the work that define life on the Maine coast. Painting it was a way of honoring that hidden relationship between ocean and lobsterman.
Winter evenings hold a special kind of comfort — the hush of snow, the promise of warmth waiting inside, and skies that sometimes blaze with unexpected brilliance. This sunset lit the world on fire against the quiet landscape, a farewell to the day. Painting it was my way of capturing that timeless feeling of heading home on a familiar back road, led by fading light and wrapped in the quiet joy of belonging.
The water in this scene reminded me of spun sugar, full of playful colors that shift and dissolve like cotton candy in the sun. I loved capturing that fleeting joy in paint — a current alive with sweetness and light. Against all that motion, the buoy lingers quietly, grounding the moment in the rhythm of the working coast.
Sunsets along the coast of Harpswell can be breathtaking, with the horizon lit in fiery gold and the islands at Lookout Point silhouetted against the glow. On this evening the sky seemed to burn with color, spilling across the water in shimmering reflections. Painting it gave me the chance to hold onto that fleeting horizon of light, where day and night meet in a blaze of beauty.
Morning stirs in hushed pinks, brushing the sky with the softest breath before the day fully wakes. The sea, restless and wild, dances beneath this fragile calm—its breakers crashing like thoughts too loud for the hour. Far off, a lone sailboat threads the horizon, small against the rising light, steady against the chaos. In this moment of haze and hush, Blush Over Breakers captures the quiet courage of beginning again—each day a voyage, each wave a heartbeat. Let it remind you—even in turbulence, beauty dawns.
"Whispers of Winter" is a painting that captures the hushed and peaceful atmosphere of a winter forest. During the late winter months in Maine, when most other birds have abandoned us for warmer climates, the chickadees remain. I tell my sons that they are the locals who still come to our diner (bird feeder) no matter how bad the weather is. It can feel as though they are messengers, dispatched to assist us in enduring Maine's extended winter season. No wonder they are Maine’s state bird. The painting is a contemplative ode to the beauty and quietness of the winter season.

Between two islands, the Margaret Todd slips into gold—its sails drawn toward the fading light like a memory returning home. Many have experienced the quiet magic of a sunset cruise aboard this schooner as it glides through Frenchman Bay, while countless others have watched from shore, the sight forever woven into their memory of Bar Harbor. As the sky turned to flame, many have watched the Margaret Todd slowly unfurl its sails and drift across the glowing horizon. The sky burning not with fire, but with farewell. For me, it was an evening walk along the Shore Path by the Bar Harbor Inn that sparked the creation of this painting. This is no voyage of distance, but of hush and wonder—a quiet surrender to beauty that cannot be held, only followed. A reminder to chase the light before it fades.
Standing before the sea, we find ourselves at the edge of something vast—not just in distance, but in possibility. Sometimes I like staring out at the ocean and imagining where these waves have gone before and where they will go next. Its reach is borderless, its story shared by unseen shores and unknown lives. Edge of Elsewhere invites us to wonder where else this water has been, what other skies it reflects, and who might be looking back across it, dreaming the same ocean-bound thoughts.
This poetic scene brings to life the timeless beauty of Portland Head Light on Cape Elizabeth.
As John Ruskin wrote, "The clouds are not mere vapor, but the living breath of the sea, rising and falling with its tides." Here, the lighthouse stands as a steadfast guardian, watching over the waves while soft clouds drift above, echoing the sea’s rhythm. This painting captures that serene connection, inviting you to feel the pulse of the coast and the sky.
I love being on Maine’s coastline during golden hour. Often I will perch myself on the perfect rock, close enough to feel the breath of the ocean, and I take it all in. In this serene setting, the ocean seems to whisper secrets of light. As each wave rolls toward me, the sun’s glow gently caresses the water’s edge—illuminating the heart of every wave and revealing its inner light. I hope this painting brings the glow of the ocean into the heart of your home.
This painting captures a moment many miss—while crowds flock to Cadillac Mountain during the day, often for sunrise, I find the wonder happens at night from Schoodic Peninsula. Here, the setting sun sets Cadillac ablaze with fiery hues, casting a warm glow over the rocky coast and whispering waves. This painting holds the quiet beauty of Acadia’s shores at dusk, this moment calls you to pause and enjoy the afterglow of another perfect day in Acadia National Park.
Ocean Therapy invites you to sit on the weathered rocks by the sea, feeling the calming rhythm of waves as they crash against Maine’s rugged coastline. The water’s steady pulse soothes the soul. Inspired by the wild beauty of the coast, this painting beckons you to find peace in the calming rhythm of the ocean.

This painting explores the quiet irony of a lighthouse standing beneath the brilliance of the Milky Way. Marshall Point Lighthouse faithfully casts its familiar beam across the dark Atlantic, yet it is the heavens that become the true source of wonder. Arcing across the sky in countless stars and rivers of light, the Milky Way outshines the lantern below, reminding us that nature's greatest illumination has always existed far beyond our own. The painting invites viewers to pause between earth and sky, where the steadfast beacon and the infinite cosmos share the same horizon. In that stillness, the lighthouse becomes a humble companion to God's true nightlight—a breathtaking reminder of His creation, quietly lighting the world long before any beacon was built.
