"Whispers of Winter" is a painting that captures the hushed and peaceful atmosphere of a winter forest. During the late winter months in Maine, when most other birds have abandoned us for warmer climates, the chickadees remain. I tell my sons that they are the locals who still come to our diner (bird feeder) no matter how bad the weather is. It can feel as though they are messengers, dispatched to assist us in enduring Maine's extended winter season. No wonder they are Maine’s state bird.
