Moment Before Dawn - Oil on Canvas - 9 x 12
In this painting, I planned to capture Otter Cliffs in Acadia National Park in the fragile hush before sunrise, when night has not yet fully released its hold on the coast. The towering granite cliffs rise from the Atlantic like ancient walls, their rugged faces touched by the first rays of a new day. A thin band of pale color gathers along the horizon, hinting at the sun still hidden beyond the sea. The atmosphere is carrying the quiet expectancy of a new day. In this suspended moment, the world feels held between darkness and light—a fleeting stillness filled with anticipation, where the first promise of dawn is felt more than seen.
