During this past winter, the Maine coastline experienced an unusual season of severe storms, resulting in widespread destruction. I often found myself overwhelmed by a sense of loss as I witnessed beloved landmarks succumb to the forces of nature, landmarks I had assumed would outlast me. However, amidst this devastation, I found solace in contemplation. I started a few paintings that helped me process through my emotions, whether in commemorating lost structures or capturing moments of chaos. I found myself coming back to this particular piece as I spent time thinking about resiliency. I love the symbolic nature of lobster trap buoys. Despite being battered and displaced by the angry ocean, they remain unsinkable.
